Committee established to develop Universal Health Coverage roadmap in Saint Lucia

In 2022, Saint Lucia’s government took steps to achieve Universal Health Coverage (UHC) by creating a professional committee to determine strategic directions.

With the aim of improving health systems and ensuring affordable, quality health care in Saint Lucia, in 2022 the government established a committee to develop a roadmap outlining the strategic direction for achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC). The committee’s deliberations contributed to the UHC white paper presented for public consultation in 2024. Acting Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health, Wellness and Elderly Affairs Jenny Daniel said,

…the white paper is basically a structured document that will outline what are our goals, objectives and vision and objectives for UHC and how exactly we expect to get there. We also touched on funding or financing of the initiatives and project and exactly where we will be and giving a proper time frame for it as well.
