In Chad, the pilot phase of the Medical Assistance Scheme (AMED) for the economically deprived in June 2025 has begun. The Caisse Nationale d’Assurance Santé (CNAS) has carried out a series of decisive activities in three pilot districts.
At the end of June 2025, the Caisse Nationale d’Assurance Santé (CNAS ) carried out a series of decisive activities in the three pilot districts of the Couverture Santé Universelle (CSU) – Danamadji, Bongor and Abéché – for the official start of care for the economically deprived under the Régime d’Assistance Médicale (AMED).
Between June 27 and July 3, 2025, CNAS organized a number of preparatory actions in each district, including a briefing for healthcare providers on the health insurance scheme, a presentation of the assumption of responsibility and control tools, and detailed explanations of the basket of care covered. These activities preceded the signing of agreements between CNAS and the healthcare providers, formalizing their commitment to the implementation of the AMED scheme.
This launch marks a significant step forward in access to healthcare for vulnerable populations in Chad, reinforcing the country’s commitment to social protection and health for all.
