Malaysia’s government plans to increase funds for Covid-19 support measures and raise the country’s statutory debt ceiling.
The government considers adding 45 billion Malaysian ringgit ($10.8 billion) to the Covid-19 fund in order to support businesses and households. Since the pandemic began, the Malaysian government has implemented the economic stimulus of approximately 530 billion ringgit ($127.7 billion).
Besides an increased budget plan, the government will seek approval from parliament to raise the debt ceiling from 60% to 65% of gross domestic product. To read more, click
