State Health Insurance Fund is monitoring insurance implementation in Syrdarya – first pilot region

In 2023, the State Health Insurance Fund established a working group to ensure compliance with state health insurance requirements in Syrdarya’s medical institutions. The region introduced a system for providing free care based on family doctor referrals, organizing 418 medical brigades and 201 examination rooms. As a result, 86% of patients now visit district and city hospitals with a referral, referrals to specialists rose by 12%, and unnecessary hospital treatments dropped from 40% to 19%.

In 2023, the State Medical Insurance Fund established a dedicated working group to support and ensure the successful implementation of state health insurance mechanisms across medical institutions in the Syrdarya region. A key milestone in this effort was the introduction of a new system providing free medical care through referrals from family doctors. As part of the initiative, the region organized 418 medical brigades and 201 medical examination rooms.

The impact has been significant: 86% of patients now visit district and city hospitals with a referral from their family doctor. Referrals to specialized specialists have increased by 12%, while the rate of unnecessary hospital admissions has sharply decreased from 40% to 19%. This transformation not only enhances the efficiency of healthcare services but also ensures more targeted and effective treatment for the region’s residents.
