Tajikistan’s Government approved the Strategy for Population Health Protection until 2030

The Strategy for Population Health Protection until 2030 was approved by Decree No. 414 of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan on September 30, 2021.

This strategy defines direction of reforms in the healthcare system and provides ways for further development of the public health sector. Key points about the role of the Strategy:

  • reiterates that access to medical services is guaranteed by the Constitution of the Republic of Tajikistan, as repeatedly emphasized in the messages of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan. The implementation of constitutional guarantees is supported by the Health Code and other laws, as well as relevant government policies and programs.
  • reiterates that population health proteciton is one of the priority areas of state policy in Tajikistan;
  • the Strategy integrates the international obligations of the Republic of Tajikistan in relation to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs);
  • the Strategy was guided by the strategic goals of the State. It is recognized that the health of the population and suitable medical services have a positive effect on the development of the national economy;
  • the pandemic was accounted for by stating that “The experience of recent years has shown that the world is not ready to protect the health of the population from infectious diseases and it is advisable to develop a strategic document for the development of health care providers”.
