On September 27, the government said it knew how to reduce healthcare expenditure by 3.5 billion euros by 2024.
According to the Social Security Financing Bill (PLFSS) for 2024, without new savings measures, the national health insurance expenditure target (Ondam) would rise by +4.6% in 2024.
Accordingly, savings of €3.5 billion on healthcare, healthcare products and healthcare and medico-social establishments are planned, to contain spending growth to +3.2%. As a result, checks on sick leave will be stepped up, medicines will be sold individually and health car pooling will be introduced.
In terms of new spending planned for 2024, we’re talking about prevention and easier access to healthcare, reimbursable panties and menstrual cups for under-26s, and free condoms.
