Turkey’s Social Security Institution sets premium for availing general health insurance

Turkey’s Social Security Institution (SGK)  stated that citizens with no social security and low income can benefit from health services for themselves and their dependents if they pay 150.12 lira General Health Insurance (GSS) premium per month.

In the written statement made by the SGK, it was stated that the Institution, which covers almost all of the population under the umbrella of GSS, continues to provide services with a quality, sustainable, safe and controllable health system.

In the statement, it is stated that, “Citizens without social security in any scope can benefit from health services for themselves and their dependents by paying 150.12 lira GSS premium per month. Citizens who cannot afford to pay the Turkish lira can apply for an income test by applying to the Social Assistance and Solidarity Foundation in their place of residence. As a result of the income test, if the income per person in the family is below one third of the gross minimum wage, the GSS premiums of these citizens are covered by the state .

In the statement, it was noted that women under the age of 18, children under the age of 18 and high school graduates until the age of 20, and university graduates until the age of 25, are provided with health services within the scope of GSS.

Further, citizens who are treated in the emergency service, are addicted to drugs or have had traffic and work accidents, are provided with access to healthcare within the scope of GSS without any conditions. It also said that universities will be able to receive health services in health application and research centers (university hospitals) until 31 December 2022.
