Vaccination against COVID with a booster dose is rolled out in Uzbekistan

Voluntary vaccination with a booster dose (revaccination with a single-component) against coronavirus is being rolled out in Uzbekistan.

“In accordance with the instructions of the Chief State Sanitary Doctor of the Republic of Uzbekistan, in order to boost the immunity against coronavirus infection in the population, starting from November 17, 2021, booster vaccination is allowed for citizens who have completed a full course of vaccination (2 or 3 doses) on a voluntary basis,” explained in the Ministry of Healthcare.

It is noted that the booster dose is intended for citizens who have undergone a course of vaccination not longer than six months after the last component of the vaccine was taken. Those wishing to receive a booster dose can be vaccinated at any vaccination point or in health care organizations.

Mass vaccination against COVID started in Uzbekistan on April 1, 2021. To date, a total of over 42.8 million doses of six types of vaccines against coronavirus have been delivered. According to the Ministry, it is planned to deliver another 5.6 million doses by the end of the year.

As of November 20 of this year, 31 489 773 doses of vaccines against COVID have been used in Uzbekistan. In particular, the first component was received by 16 452 251 people, the second (full) vaccination was received by 9 905 030 citizens, and the third dose — by 5 132 492 volunteers.
