Work stoppage without waiting period now possible in the event of miscarriage

Whether you’re an employee, a craftswoman, a shopkeeper or a self-employed professional, you can benefit from sick leave without a waiting period if you suffer a spontaneous interruption of pregnancy (miscarriage).

Since January 1, 2024, in the event of spontaneous termination of pregnancy (miscarriage), it has been possible to take sick leave without the waiting period. Health insurance compensation is therefore payable from the first day of sick leave. Female employees, craftswomen, shopkeepers and self-employed professionals are all eligible.

For the record, the waiting period is the 3-day period during which a person does not receive any compensation for sick leave. Its abolition in the case of sick leave due to miscarriage therefore enables compensation from the Assurance Maladie from the 1st day of sick leave.
