The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Turkmenistan on Wednesday handed over another batch of test systems for PCR diagnostics of COVID-19 to the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan.
According to a UNDP press release, the consignment was donated as part of the World Bank-funded COVID-19 Response project in Turkmenistan in the amount of 193,000 tests worth more than 998,000 euros.
This $20 million project is being implemented by UNDP and the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry with UNICEF and WHO in Turkmenistan to help strengthen preparedness and response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The project aims to strengthen national testing and treatment capacity, improve the skills of medical workers, procure reagents, medicines and medical equipment, and address social and health risks associated with the pandemic. The project also supports the implementation of digital solutions for infectious disease control.
