The article titled “Financing Pandemic Prevention, Preparedness and Response: Lessons Learned and Perspectives for Future,” published in the Globalization and Health journal by Biomed Central explores critical insights into pandemic financing with a focus on Africa and global initiatives. It highlights the challenges exposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly the global inequity in accessing medical countermeasures, which left African nations at a significant disadvantage. Drawing from a rapid literature review and expert consultations, the article reviews various pandemic prevention, preparedness, and response (PPPR) financing mechanisms, including innovative efforts by the African Union, and calls for more equitable, sustainable investments to strengthen health systems and ensure global health security.
