General Health Law No. 5395

It establishes that the health of the population is a good of public interest protected by the State.
The definition of the national health policy, the formation, planning and coordination of all public and private activities related to health, as well as the execution of those activities that fall under the law, correspond to the Executive Power through the Ministry of Public Health.
It also specifies that every inhabitant has the right to health benefits, in the manner determined by the laws and special regulations, and to contribute to the maintenance of his family and the community.
Likewise, every person, natural or legal, is subject to the mandates issued by the health authorities in the exercise of their organic competences and has the right to be duly informed by the competent official on the mandatory rules in force in health matters.
