Many countries are in the process of reforming or consolidating their financing systems in order to move towards universal health coverage (UHC). Primary Health Care is a valuable grid for guiding certain choices, such as how to make the purchase of care more strategic by prioritizing front-line services, establishing cost-efficient care packages and remunerating health facilities to improve coverage rates, quality of care and equity. For over a year, the Global Financing Facility (GFF), the World Bank and the World Health Organization have been working together to organize country workshops to help ministries of health tackle this crucial political and technical agenda for the CSU.
In Côte d’Ivoire, an experience-sharing workshop on strategic purchasing was held in February 2022. The aim of this workshop was to highlight the successes and limitations of regional dynamics in strategic purchasing, and to analyze the factors that have contributed to these successes and failures. The same workshop was held in Niger in February 2023.
In this webinar, the team in charge of this program will present the didactic approach adopted, the issues addressed and some of the lessons that emerge from the collective learning activated during these workshops. Several of the national experts who took part in these workshops, including the P4H focal person in Côte d’Ivoire, Serge MAYAKA, will share their personal experiences in this area.
