GABON/Finance bill: The government forecasts a drop in resources

The process of drafting the 2022 Finance Bill (PLF), which began on August 5 with the opening of the budget conferences, is set to continue with a technical phase to establish the exact figures for the expected funding. But already, at the close of this financial year, the Minister for the Budget and Public Accounts announced that the forecast budget would be down. Some put the figure at 357 billion FCFA.

We are projecting lower resources because we want to reduce our expenditure on external financing,” he reported. “In other words, we want to reduce debt. This is also one of PAT’s objectives. So a framework has already been drawn up, which provides for an increase in domestic resources and a gradual reduction in the level of debt.“It’s a question ofhaving the debt to finance future spending on education, health and social infrastructure“, says the Minister in charge of the budget.
