Malaysia budget 2022 prioritizes to support the low-income households and businesses affected by COVID-19

The COVID-19 pandemic negatively affects Malaysia’s economy and household income, especially lower income families. To minimize the impact of economic recession and alleviate the poverty from the pandemic, Malaysia approved budget for 2022 with priorities to support the low-income households and business sector. 

For the 2022 budget, RM161 million has been allocated to assist the low-income households through monthly allowances between RM150 and RM750 per month. While another RM21.4 million has been funded to other programs for low-income group such as school uniforms and stationary for children, food baskets, subsidies for rent and utility bills.

Meanwhile, RM100 million has been allocated to support the small and medium businesses through the interest free loans, aiming to facilitate the cash flow for the businesses. In addition, RM4 million has been funded to restore the tourism sector. To read more, click.
