A scoping meeting on health financing in Niger brought together experts working on the issue on a virtual platform. Below is a summary of the main points from the June 3 meeting:
A presentation of the steps involved in setting up the National Health Insurance Institute (INAM) in Niger.
The technical support of the CMU expert is crucial and has helped to implement :
- Strategic purchasing / PBF
- Harmonization and alignment of the various financing mechanisms for free health care / CMU in Niger
The following steps are :
- Development and validation of the decree creating INAM (to be presented to the Government today June 3)
- Transfer the management of this free policy to INAM (including settling outstanding debts on reimbursements)
- This means identifying the management team, i.e. recruiting a general manager who will then put together the team.
- Organization of technical meetings and stakeholder consultations, to identify sources of funding for the establishment and operation of INAM, at least for its launch.
