Rwanda gets more support for its vaccine manufacturing plant, manages to raise US$3.5 Million

As the African continent battles with the coronavirus pandemic, Rwandan president Paul Kagame is planning to establish the first mRNA vaccine plant in Africa.  The government of Rwanda has so far gotten support from several development partners including international finance corporation (IFC), the European Union (EU), the kENUP foundation and most recently the Belgian development agency, Enabel to establish the plant. So far, Rwanda has mobilised US$3.5 million from the EU towards the plant. The government of Rwanda announced that the money would accelerate Rwanda’s drive to build the vaccine plant:

This agreement boosts Rwanda’s efforts to build a vaccine and pharmaceutical manufacturing ecosystem to contribute to health security of our region and our continent. 

President Kagame said.
