Ethiopia’s health sector has undergone significant transformation over the past two decades, marked by expanded access to primary health care, improved maternal and child health outcomes, and notable progress in the control of major communicable diseases. Guided by a series of strategic reforms and investments, the country has increased health service coverage to over 90% and strengthened its health infrastructure and workforce. Despite these achievements, Ethiopia continues to face complex challenges, including a triple burden of communicable and non-communicable diseases, injuries, and recurring health emergencies.
