A delegation led by Zaur Aliyev, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the State Agency for Compulsory Health Insurance (CHIA) of Azerbaijan, conducted a working visit to Prague, Czech Republic, from November 24 to 28. The visit aimed to strengthen international collaboration, exchange best practices, and enhance the compulsory health insurance system.
During the visit, Mr. Aliyev and Czech Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health, Vlastimil Valek, signed a memorandum of understanding to foster bilateral cooperation in health insurance, exchange expertise, and support healthcare system development through joint initiatives. The event was attended by Adish Mammadov, Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to the Czech Republic.
The delegation met Radek Policar, the Czech Ministry of Health’s Director General for Legislation and Law, to discuss healthcare cooperation. Tomas Tvarozek presented an overview of the Czech health insurance system, covering its legal framework, insurance premiums, rights and obligations, and service financing.
Ondrej Majek from the Czech Institute of Health Information and Statistics delivered a lecture on “Oncology Screening Programs,” emphasizing early detection, the role of screenings, and their methodologies.
The delegation also toured Motol Hospital and IKEM (Institute of Clinical and Experimental Medicine), examining the Emergency Department’s operations, high-tech medical services, management models, and advanced medical equipment.
